PICTURE POST: Nail Polish & Some Xmas Presents

New on the go makeup bag/traincase. I think it's cute and chic but my sisters think it looks like one of those tacky thermal lunch bags.. hmmm

From boy. I put these on my wishlist. I was only expecting one perfume (Lil' Angel) since mine ran out but he surprised me with two others. Lot's of space in the makeup bag! I'm storing some of my falsies in there for now. :D

Harajuku lovers perfume in Music, Lil' Angel, and Love. They are so cute!

I played around with my new urban decay primer potion and dior palette. I'm not very impressed with these shadows. They are kind of chalky/crumbly and not silky smooth at all. Very interesting. UDPP is somewhat drying but the colors lasts all day without creasing!

The look I came up with. I used all the colors in the palette but I think all the greys just turned out to be the same. Maybe I just suck at blending. I plan on exchanging this and getting a different palette so stay turned!

My current nails: Nicole by OPI in Turn out the Lights. A dark green with sparkles. I want to make a video tutorial on this soon even though it's so easy! It's a nice New Years look!

I love pinks! I just added one more to my pink collection. Left to right: OPI Tutti Frutti Tonga, Italian Love Affair, Hawaiian Orchid, Japanese Rose Garden (newest one), and Argenteeny Pinkini.

Last weeks nails: OPI - Japanese Rose Garden

Hope everyone is having a good day! Take care!

My Boxing Day Haul

Boxing day is the day after Christmas when malls are packed with people pushing and shoving their ways to get to those uber priced down merchandise. I guess it's on par with Black Friday. I give props to anyone who goes shopping on of this day because it's so aggravating! Too many impatient and rude shoppers running you down and knocking you to the left and to the right. I don't know how I do it. Every year, I go shopping with boy at Best Buy, The Source, and Future Shop because you get the best bargains on electronics. Last year we got a 50" flat screen TV for $1000 after taxes! This year was no different, I got a media keyboard for $10!, LG and Jabra bluetooth headsets $30 each (out of package because boy and bro were so eager to play games with it heh), wireless optical mouse $15 (out of package) and more! All for super cheap! The deals go on all week so hurry while supplies last! Haul picture:
Okie, okie, this is a makeup blog not an electronics/media accessories blog. Don't fret for I don't disappoint! I now give you my makeup haul! I had a $50 gift certificate for London Drugs so I got three Lise Watier brushes and three Bloom Cream Eye Colors. I totally went over the gift card amount and had to pay the difference! Next, I went to Icing by Claire's where they were having buy 1 get 2nd half price so I picked up two body glitter towers/stackers. One to use for makeup and the other for nail art. The rest is from Sephora. I'm not quite finished with my Too Faced Shadow Insurance yet but I caved in and got Urban Decay Primer Potion anyways. I'm glad I waited because they finally realized the flaw of a straight doe foot applicator and changed it to a conventional slanted shape. Now you can turn the applicator around in the tube and scoop out more product :)

If you're wondering, I didn't get any clothes or anything because I hate waiting in line to go in the stores!

DISCLAIMER: I am not affiliated or endorsing in any of these products. Merchandise were either purchased by boy or nee.

REVIEW: Maybelline EyeStudio Color Pearls Marbleized Duo Eyeshadow

Left to right: Lawless Lavender, Bronze Blowout, Carbon Frost

Overall: 4 out of 5
Packaging: 5 out of 5
Price: $8 CAD
Size/Weight: .09 OZ 2.5 g
Would you buy this again? Sure, why not?

I won't bother writing too much here because you can watch my YouTube review on this product. Here are the swatches applied dry without any primer or base. They are really pigmented from the oils on my fingers but when you use this with an eyeshadow brush, get ready for fall out and glitter face! These are like baked mineralized eyeshadows which is neat! I use these wet to intensify the colors and I really love the results. Like the Maybelline Eyestudio Diamond Quads, these colors offer a shimmery and glistening look which is wonderful for the holidays! In the video, I mentioned that I didn't really like Lawless Lavender because it was too light for me but now it has grown on me and I quite like it! (I filmed the video last week.)

On a different note, I just read that Brittany Murphy died from cardiac arrest yesterday. So sad... it's almost Christmas too. :( My heart goes out to her family. RIP.

Beauty Rush Haul

I was Christmas shopping at my local mall last week when I decided to go into La Senza (Canadian version of Victoria's Secret) and discovered that their Beauty Rush items were 7 for $25! That works out to about $3.5 CAD each which is dirt cheap because they retail for $14.5o CAD regular price. I basically got all the left overs! Everyone was grabbing the lotion and the dual phase body mist! I got the last body mist and the body lotions that day! muahaha!

I am very very happy with my purchase because everything smells divine! I wanted their Holiday Edition Mist but they were all gone :( Anyways, I got the Honey Do body wash, Juiced Berry body wash, Candy Baby Body Double Mist, Juiced Berry Body Double Mist, Juiced Berry Body Glimmer Swirl Cream, Strawberry Fizz Body Drink Lotion, and Candy Baby Body Drink Lotion! I thought I would like the Body Double Mists most but the scent barely lasted on my skin. My favorite is the Strawberry Fizz drink lotion... I like going to bed smelling like strawberry candy! LOL NOTE: The body mist and lotion from this line don't moisturize well at all. I use these simply for the scent. If you need a night time lotion for chronic dry skin, I highly recommend Cetaphil Lotion. It is the best of the best and works like a charm.

You're probably wondering, why so cheap? Well, La Senza is starting to clear the Beauty Rush items because next year they are introducing their own Beauty Line. I haven't seen them in stores yet but they are already available on the website.

I'm so sorry I didn't post this sooner because this sale doesn't exist anymore! I was shopping again yesterday and they are now 4 for $20 which is $5 each! Still cheap!

Toodles!

Collective Haul & Brief Review

Sadly, there's not much to do in this kind of rainy weather. For the past few weekends I've just been shopping and eating at the mall. I usually don't do hauls because some people see it as a form of showing off and I honestly don't buy a lot of makeup... but that was then. I don't know what's going on with me these days.. I find myself easily influenced by makeup gurus and beauty bloggers! I forgive myself though because each item is well under $10 compared to a single designer eyeshadow palette that can range from $50-$70 :D

Top Row (left to right): Maybelline Eyestudio Eyeshadow Quads in Purple Icon 30, Give Me Gold 05, Pink Persuasion 80
Second Row (left to right): Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin 20 and Rose Petal 25, Maybelline Eyestudio Eyeshadow Quads in Sapphire Siren 20 and Green with Envy 40
Third Row (left to right): Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel 002, Rimmel Eye Twist Automatic duo liner and shadow, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Life's A Peach 110, Maybelline Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara, Maybelline Expertwear Eyeshadow Quads in Designer Chocolates 40 and Chai Latte 22 , Maybelline Stylish Smokes Eyeshadow Quads in Charcoal Smokes 04 and Emerald Smokes 08

Top Row (left to right): Maybelline Eyestudio Eyeshadow Quads in Purple Icon 30, Give Me Gold 05, Pink Persuasion 80 - I absolutely love these! They weren't advertised well at all! I never even heard about it until I saw the new display at my local Walmart. I wasn't sure if they were limited edition so I picked up a couple the first time. They are very shimmery and pigmented shadows. Not glittery, over-the-top shimmery but iridescent like the swatches I see of Majolica Majorca eyeshadows. This is not something you'd typically find in a drugstore!

Second Row (left to right): Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin 20 and Rose Petal 25. Peach satin didn't work for me because it was too light and all I could see was the silver glitter that made me look like a disco queen from the 80's. It was hot.... you should've seen me =D I didn't even give Rose Petal a chance after that. I prefer my powder blushes over these anytime.

Second Row (cont.): Maybelline Eyestudio Eyeshadow Quads in Sapphire Siren 20 and Green with Envy 40. Once again, I love these. Green with Envy is my personal favorite because all the colors are different from one another and they really suit my skin tone and eye color!

Third Row (left to right): Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel 002 - Filling brows with powder take time so when I'm in a rush, I tend to use pencil. Some people say that pencil looks unnatural but I believe I've mastered the art of achieving natural brows with pencil! Hazel didn't work though because it's too light for me and has a bit of a red undertone. I'll just stick to my Prestige brow pencil in Earth Brown. Rimmel Eye Twist Automatic duo liner and shadow - This comes in a champagne color eyeshadow and a brown liner. I got this on clearance and I can see why! The shadow stick is hard, much like MAC's shadestick! It takes a lot of effort to apply this but I use it as a highlight on top of my cupid's bow and it is perfect for that. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Life's A Peach 110 - My favorite drugstore lipgloss. Love the texture and the color. This is my second one, the tube looks like a decent size but there's not much product in it. Maybelline Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara - I've always wanted to try this but I didn't think $18 for a mascara was worth it. However, this was finally on sale and I snatched the waterproof version for $10! I opened it to look at the applicator but I haven't tried it yet. Maybelline Expertwear Eyeshadow Quads in Designer Chocolates 40 and Chai Latte 22 - I've heard so many great reviews and raves on these quads and WOW, I can't believe how much I didn't like them. I guess what may work for one, may not work for another. The colors look nice in the pan but they barely showed up on my skin. I had to literally scrape the brush on the shadow to transfer it. I know I didn't get an old batch because these where in the new packaging. FAIL. Maybelline Stylish Smokes Eyeshadow Quads in Charcoal Smokes 04 and Emerald Smokes 08 - Guess what? I like these. The colors are pigmented, silky, and lustrous. I plan on getting one more in Natural Smokes.

That's it for now. It's pouring and chilly outside but my home is warm and cozy. I am so thankful I'm not out there sleeping in a wet cardboard box. We are too fortunate. Good night babes :)

Annabelle Super Nova Winter Collection + Gosh Darling Lipstick

Annabelle is a makeup brand based in Canada. It's sold at many drugstores and comes with an affordable price tag. One thing that distinguishes Annabelle from the other drugstore brand is its pretty and professional packaging. The single eyeshadow looks like MAC's exactly. Quality and pigmentation is good as well!

I finally picked up their custom quad eyeshadows a few days ago and I must say, I'm quite pleased with the texture and color payoff.. really smooth and pigmented for $3! I got it on sale, reg is $4-$5 which is still cheap!!! Here I am putting them into my palette! I found it in the house so it must belong to one of my sisters but it's mine now! muahahaha

Annabelle also comes up with limited edition products every season which is great and I always get at least one thing from the line. This Winter, they launched their Super Nova Collection which includes 3 dome eyeshadow trios, glitter eyeliners, glitter dust, striped highlighter, and a pinky nude lipgloss. I went to Shoppers Drug Mart two weeks ago and picked up 2 eyeshadow trios because they really caught my eyes! The consistency is exactly like MAC's mineralized duo eyeshadow (I own Engaging and compared). Here are the swatches applied dried, you can imagine how vibrant it'd be if applied wet. I think they are baked and mineralized but don't quote me on that.

I love Bling Blang (lilac, lime green, pastel blue) the most even though the colors are more reminiscent of Easter and Moon Illusion (white, cream, black) is really pretty and versatile too. The other trio was Blue Nebula (grey, charcoal, navy blue) but I don't wear enough blue to care for that one.

And lastly, I picked up Gosh's Velvet Touch lipstick in Darling 134. Very moisturizing, nice smell, pretty light nude color with pink undertones. I wouldn't wear this lipstick on it's own though because it is really pale. Top it off with a light pink lipsgloss and you're good to go! :) I've been wearing it since I got it! can't get enough!

On a different, I came home yesterday and found out that I won the DSK Jewelry Lottery for the month of October! WOWWEEE! I am so stoked!! hehe For those of you who don't know, Steph (the brains behind DSK Jewelry) is a girl who makes swarovski crystal jewelry and sells them online. Popular gurus on youtube such as Bubz and Holly sport her intricate pieces... and now I win some moon pendants! So happy! Please check out her site and follow her for the chance to win next month's lottery! It could be YOU!

REVIEW: L'Oreal HIP Jelly Balm in Plush 120

The Claim: "Soothes and protects your lips.. sheer mouthwatering color is a real treat."

Overall: 5 out of 5
Packaging:4 out of 5
Price: $5-$10
Would you buy this again? Yes! YES!

This actually came out a year ago but I wasn't really in the loop til this summer so I thought I missed my chance since they are limited edition in Canada. However, I was at London Drugs and saw this in the clearance rack for $5.50 CAD (it was originally $9.99) so I had to pick it up! I hear this is comparable to MAC's tinted lip conditioner in Pink Fish which I don't own, so I am in no place to compare...sorry! However, I am loving this product more than my Nivea Light Kiss lip balm! The consistency is smooth and not too heavy and it really does relieve dry lips and conditions it while adding a subtle hint of cool pink (I got the color in PLUSH). The packaging is not sanitary because you have to dip your finger in it. I never carry jarred products in my purse and apply it throughout the day. I only use this in the morning while I'm putting on my face and by the time I'm done, my lips are soft and ready for the application of the lipstick. Also, this lip blam lasts a very very long time, maybe 2-4 hours if I'm not eating in between and when I wipe it off, my lips are still soft to the touch! To conclude, I love this stuff! Wish it were more readily available here in Canada!

The top look so nice and plump that I didn't want to stick my finger in it! ... but I did.

TOP: Very dry lips!..lacking water.. I'm bad with that.
Bottom: Nourished with Jelly Balm in Plush! I like how it lightens my pigmented lips too!

Nee

Review: Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Nude Delight

The Claim: "Moisture Infusion: Innovative formula with 3 Super Moisturisers - Collagen, Polypeptides & Hyaluronic Acid deeply hydrates lips and improves their condition instantly and over time. Lips look and feel up to 70% more hydrated and up to 60% smoother - colour is maximized, all day long with SPF 20 Protection. Caring color complex of vitamin A, C & E, anti-oxidants and SPF 20 protects lips from everyday damage."

Overall: 5 out of 5
Packaging:5 out of 5
Price: $5
Would you buy this again? Yes!

When I saw the purple metallic casing I just had to get it. I picked up Nude Delight for about $5 CAD and couldn't be happier. This is my new favourite nudey at the moment because it feels like lip balm but is opaque enough to show up on my pigmented lips. It's very moisturizing like the regular line but it doesn't smell like bubblegum-- something I liked a lot about the Lasting Finish Wear lipsticks in the burgundy tubes. It glides on like a dream and the color is the perfect nude for me that doesn't wash me out like NYX's Circe. It's not over drying either like Revlon matte lipstick in Nude Attitude but it possesses the same peachy beige color (more pinky undertones though) with very subtle shimmer. Pick this up immediately, you won't be sorry. =)

nude delight, nude attitude, circe

Nude Delight on my lips. You can see my natural lip color on the corner of my lips heh

REVIEW: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Warm Me Up

The Claim: "Crisper color from pure pigments. Creamier feel from nourishing honey nectar. Lipcolor so rich, so stunning… it’s sensational. "

Overall: 4 out of 5
Packaging: 3 out of 5
Price: $8-10
Would you buy this again? If it were on sale, yes.

My favorite Maybelline lipstick is a color called Nude Blush from the Moisture Extreme line. It's an opaque nudey pink color that suits my skin tone naturally and feels very moisturizing on my lips. I compared this lipstick to Warm Me Up and these are the conclusions that I've drawn.

In terms of color, i prefer Nude Blush. Warm Me Up is bit of a brownish pinky mauve... a bit too earthy for my taste. The Color sensational smells like coconut whereas Moisture Extremes smell like Nair's Hair Removal Cream, something i don't particularly fancy. Both Lipsticks are moisturizing but Nude Blush is a lot more creamier.

Staying power is average and there is no need to line your lips with this lipstick because the color will not bleed pass your lips as it is thick in consistency. I really detest the tube because it's long and that makes removing the cap off a little bit of a hassle. I'm just not used to it. Despite that, it's worth a try.

Warm me up shows up really blue-pink with flash. In real life, it's more of a brownish pink.

My lips are pretty pigmented and both colors showed up very well.

REVIEW: Dermalogica Sheer Moisture with SPF 15 and Soothing Protection Spray

The first thing the opposite sex will take into account when they first meet you is your height, second is your skin. Well for me anyways.. I have transitional skin which basically means that in the winter it's dry and flakey and in the summer it's combination (oily in some areas like the t-zone and dry in others). Therefore, my skin regime changes every season!

Dermalogical products are developed by the International Dermal Institute. Their products are simple and supposedly delivers effective results in a short amount of time. The price range is a bit steep because it uses the latest advances in ingredient technology. I got the Sheer Moisture with SPF 15 and Soothing Protection Spray a month ago so here's my take on it.

Dermalogica Soothing Protection Spray

The Claim: An ultra-calming spray formulated with Dermalogica's Anti-Ozonate Complex to protect skin form reactive ozone while active botanicals immediately reduce irritation, redness and inflammation.

Overall: 4 out of 5 (because it works)
Packaging: 2 out of 5 (spray nozzle is not appropriate for this product)
Price: $12-$15
Size: 1.7 fl oz (travel size)
Would you buy this again? Yes

This is basically a toner but one thing that distinguishes this from other toners is that it contains a lot of oils, castor oil and lavender oil to name a few. When I first used this, I followed the instructions which was to spray on face with eyes closed. When I opened my eyes, the oils on my lashes had made its way in my eyes which stung like crazy. I did notice that it had a lemon scent and a cooling effect which was nice during those hot summer nights. I don't moisture my face at night in the summer due to the heat so the oils in this toner lightly aids in adding moisture to my cleansed face. When I got up I noticed some redness around my nose had gone away. I was stoked! The next day instead if spraying it on my face, I sprayed it on my hands and dabbed it on face. This method works wonderfully for me and i been using it since with the same results. A little goes a long way with this toner! I've been using it for a month and i still have a lot left!

Dermalogica Sheer Moisture SPF 15 (Untinted)

The claim: Oil-free hydration and sun protection united! All the key benefits of Sheer Tint Moisture SPF 15 - but without any tint. Ideal for users of Active Moist or Skin Smoothing Cream who are looking for a daytime moisturizer with a built in SPF15.

Overall: 2 out of 5 (because nice packaging and has SPF)
Packaging: 5 out of 5 (practical and sanitary)
Price: $36-$40
Size: 1.5 fl oz
Would you buy this again? No

You would expect this to be light and unscented because it was developed by estheticians but nope, it's thick and possesses that strong citrus scent like the toner. I used this once and never again for the summer because it's very heavy. I though this would be good for the winter time when my skin resembles sand paper but after an hour, my skin was flaking (and i had exfoliate the night before). This moisturizer does not leave a matte or satin finish which is what i prefer in a facial moisturizer. It feels greasy and doesn't absorb into the skin quickly. It didn't break me out for the one day i used it but i hate that it contains illuminating sparkles. You can see see it on my hand after i rubbed it in. It is pricey and not worth it!

Very thick indeed!

Pretty little glitters! hmmmm
